Set on 650 landscaped acres containing five 18 hole
golf courses, the Doral Golf Resort and Spa 13 miles
west of Miami is everything vacationers would want,
especially if they're into, well, golf. The resort is
home to 90 holes of PGA golf and the Jim McLean Golf
School. The Doral has hosted the PGA championship
tour for 40 years, and some of the world's most
famous golfers play here. Guests can grab chairs on
the outdoor patio overlooking the greens and watch
the action. Golfing greats Jack Nicklaus and Tiger
Woods and Hollywood stars like John Travolta are
known to pass by.
In addition, the Arthur Ashe Tennis Center offers pro
instruction on 11 courts. More than 100 treatments
are available in the Doral Spa. For the kids, Camp
Doral provides supervised children's activities,
while the outdoor Blue Lagoon includes four splash
pools, children's pool, waterfall and 150 foot water
slide. Eight stores include a pro shop with golf
accessories, Tommy Bahama Island Shop, and an upscale
women's sportswear store. Starbucks Cyber Café serves
up coffee and high speed Internet access. Guests can
grab panoramic views of Doral's courses from the
Windows on the Green restaurant while noshing seafood,
sushi and lobster. For family style dining, the
Terrazza Restaurant and Café dishes up sandwiches,
pastries, ice cream and other breakfast, lunch and
dinner goodies. Business travelers will enjoy the
100,000 square feet of flexible meeting space and a
fully stocked business center.
The 692 guestrooms and 48 suites include high speed
Internet access and plantation style wicker and wood
furniture. Rooms have private, furnished balconies or
patios.
The Doral also offers a good location close to
everything Miami. The trendy shops and nightlife of
South Beach is 16 miles away and Miami International
Airport is five miles from the hotel.
